Why do you think a commandment-keeping "good man" would refuse to follow Jesus, while a cheating "bad man" accepted Jesus' invitation to be a follower?

Because the cheating bad man would want to be a better man.
Well a good man thinks he is so cool and thinks he is saved that he will not do anything to be saved evev though that's not what is going down. But the bad man will want to get saved so when he has a chance to get saved he will take it because guilt is maybe catching up with him so he'll really want to get saved.
Maybe because a good man might think he is good enough already to go to heaven while a bad man knows he not good enough so he goes with jesus because Jesus can make him a good man.
The "good man" may think he was saved, and that he didn't need anyone but his works to save him. The "bad man" may want to be good but he might not know how, so he knows he needs someone (a savior, basically) to help him with his problems.
A "good man" would think that he's already "saved." He would just be going throught the motions. The "cheater" would want to be a better person. He's seen what it's like to be a bad person and he wants to be like Jesus!
It inks it because the "good man" was only keeping the commandments to benefit himself, earn heaven without Jesus, and improve his reputation while the other man truly wanted to change and give up all of himself to Jesus.
Because the good man is trying to show-off by being a really good Christian but on the inside He's really not. The bad man wants to truly become a better man and follow Jesus and leave his bad traits behind.
The "good man" maybe think if he stops keeping the commandments that he well still be save and the "bad man" now that hes doing wrong that he will keep the commandment.
The man that kept all of the commandments, didn't really have a relationship with God. The cheating man really wanted to find God because he was tired of his life.
I think that the good man will get to cocky and think he's the best and the bad man would follow so he can become a better person and so he can get forgiven for all his sins.....+D
Because the "good man" thinks hes all perfect and he doesn't need Jesus. But the "bad man" knows that he's not perfect and the hope for him to be redeemed is an opportunity to make himself right with Jesus.
He was saving his reputation by keeping the commandments. He didn't love, or care about God. HE thought he was perfect enough by himself. The sinful man knew he needed to change. He was willing to not care what others thought and he took a leap of faith.

Beacuse a "good man" might think of himself as too good for God. While A "bad man" might be tired of sin and want to repent.
Because the bad man was ready to change and follow God and the other wasn't ready to make God first over everything he had.

I agree with BibleGirl1314
The good man may think he is saved bt the bad man wants to be a better person.
Why are u people taking answers out of my mind again!!!!!!!!! I agree with all of thee above!
Because the cheating "bad man" might have realized how badly they need God in their lives, so they chose to follow Him.

Because he would want to get closer to God.
The saved man thinks he is already saved but the bad man want to keep on Following God.

Because the "good" man thought he was already good to go...the "bad" man didn't.
A good man thinks he knows everything and is for sure he is going to Heaven but a bad man knows he did wrong and asks for forgiveness.
Because the good man was very proud of all of his accomplishments, but the bad man knew he was doing wrong and he need to fix his life.
I think that the good man will get to cocky and think he's the best and the bad man would follow so he can become a better person and so he can get forgiven for all his sins.....+D

whatever God thinks is best is a ok with me.
Mybe because the bad man wanted to change but the good man thought he didn't need to & was good enough.
Because maybe one realized something the other did not...

The good man may of thought that he was good enough but the bad man well I dont know about the bad man.
the good man might think he is better than jesus becuase he is good but the bad man doesnt
Because the bad man would recognize he was bad and want to try and fix it after seeing the love jesus has for us.
because the bad man wants to be good...
Well the good man think he is cool and has everything like under controwhile on the other hand the bad guy will know that he would nedd help from God.
cuz he wanted to be good.
dude because the bad man wanted to be good instead of being bad
