Give an example of what Matthew 16:24 is trying to tell us when it urges man to "deny himself."

I think he is saying we have to leave everything behind to follow him.
I also think he is saying that we have to leave everything behind to follow Jesus.
To not be ouroldselves and to leave that behind and just fallow him.
We might have to leave all the stuff we have.. all the stuff we've died and cried for! All the stuff we've probably earned so hard to get... but it won't mater when we get to heaven. That's what I believe he is saying.

That we can't save ourselves and we need to give all of us to Christ to make us pure and save us. We can only be saved through Him.
I think it means to not let your will be done but let God's will be done.
Leave all earthly possesions.
In a way, I think it means that we can not do what we wan't ourselves to do. We have to do what God wants us to do. Realize that you are not in control.
I think it says something like this; Even if you have to give some things up, it'll be okay if it's for God.
I think its saying that we should not think about us and stop what were doing to follow God.
I think it means to give everything up for Jesus in order to follow what he commands.

I think it means that Jesus wants to deny ourselves and to accept or recognize Jesus.=)
To not do just what we want & think uppity of our selfs. but to do what God wants.
It means to leave all your worldly possesions behind and pursue Him.
We need to be willing to give everything up. HE can see in our hearts, and he knows if we'd really do it.
