Explain what you think Jesus meant when He said that He is the "bread of life" and the "living water." -Why is it important to the growth of an individual?-

I think that it means like if we follow him he can give us life by going to heaven and by living water i also think it means to live.
He meant we need him to grow, just like we need food and water to grow.
I think that he was saying that u can't really live without him cause only through him can u have eternal life and that u need him to grow spiritually...
He represents all of those things.
It is important to know God's words and fallow his foot steps.
When I think of the bread of life, I think of the last supper when He said the bread was His flesh, so without Him we can't live. I also think it can sort of be represented as the Bible because it can give us eternal life. When He said He can give the woman at the well "living water", I think of it as like the Holy Spirit because our bodies are made up of I think 70% water. Well we need our hearts to be complete by the Holy Spirit. We need the Bible and the Holy Spirit to grow spiritually with God.
I think it is important because we all need food and water to live and since back then bread was the food that they always ate so he use bread if he woulkd say it now to us he would probably say I am the pizza of life and the living soda but he said thatt because we need him in our every day lives without him we cant live................eternaly/ spiritualy
Personally, I think he ment that if we read his word, the Bible, we will get the spiritual nourishment we need. His word is mandatory for our spiritual growth, I think.
I think Jesus meant that you need Him and you need to have a personal relationship with him to live eternally, just like you need food and water to live. It's important to us because as we're growing, our bodies grow and we need to grow spiritually in Christ by having a relationship with Jesus.
I agree with all of those ansers. I was thinking right along the same line. We need Jesus to grow spiritualy like we need food & water to live & grow. We can not live spiritual lives without him, we would die. You said all that I was thnking, so I guess we came to a conclusion!
I think that God is trying to say that as an individual we need to eat of his bread to be like him and drink of his water to live forever and become holy.
I personally think, that when he means he is the, "bread of life" he's saying that he makes us full of him. Like how bread makes us full! Also when he says he is the "living water" he means that even though were full, were still in thirst for more of him. Notice, when you eat... you tend to get thirsty after that meal. So God (the bread in this case) is our meal, and we can't just eat without drinking water or anything. To be fully satisfied with the whole entire meal we have to have more, and drink his water.
I think when He said that it was a representation of our lives. We need bread and water to survive until the end. So, since Jesus is our bread and water we cannot live without Him. If we do not let Him come into our lives we will die.
I think that it's important because Jesus said at the Passover that the bread was "my body" and then he took the cup and said "this is my blood of the new covenant." I think he meant that just like we need bread and water (or just food!), we need him also. In our spiritual growth, we need Jesus more than ever to guide us.
I think it means we need god in our lives to grow as a person.
i think he was refuring to own lifes like he is our water and our bread and without those things we will die...
I think it means that if you believe in him you can live forever with him in heaven.
I think that what he meant was that we can't live without him because he is our energy and our strength.

I think that when he said he was the water and the bread that he ment that that we need him in order to live. We can not live if we do not have water and bread and have hime.
I think it goes along with how we need food and water to live. We also need to have spiritual food and water which is the bread of life and the living water.
It means that if you follow jesus you will grow with Him. And besides you need to drink and eat, don't you? Why not drink and eat from Gods table?
I think He meant that just like you need to eat food and drink water everyday, you also need to spend time with Him daily. It is important to the spiritual growth to someone because they need to spend time with Him daily to have a better relationship with Him.
We need to study His word or read the word to stay alive spiritually.
I know that it says somewhere in the Bible, "Man cannot live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord." The bread of life and the living water are to me in spiritual life like hamburgers and Diet Coke are to me in real life.
And also, without it we will not be able to grow in faith. I mean, we eat all the time in reality. But very few of us eat every day SPIRITUALLY.
I think it means you need him everyday just like real bread and water and to grow in him spiritually.
He says it because most normal people can't go without nourishment, just as we can't live without Jesus. Without him, we feel empty. We need to eat. ;)
I think Jesus was saying that we are all sinners and no one is perfect and it is only through him that we are saved. I think this is also saying that we need to be ready at all times and nothing we can do will getus to heaven it's only what God can do.
i think it is saying if u have jusus u will grow if ya know what i mean.
I think Jesus was saying u need him all the time to live and grow spiritually just like we need bread and water to live. Everyone needs to follow Jesus.
What Jesus means is like bread... we can't live without some kind of wheat. Bread is made up of wheat and flour, so just like we need water and bread we need Jesus.☺

I think it means that when we partake of of his food and water we will never be hungry or thirsty. God always finds the best ways to explain himself.
I think he ment you really can;t live without him(or not forever). it shows you how much you need him
